A quick look back at the most exciting events that happened at JoVE in the past month!
This September has been a very eventful month at JoVE! Not only have we had the biggest new product launch in our company’s history (read more here), we’ve had two of our best people promoted!
Dipesh Navani Ph.D. Promoted to Director of Production
Dipesh, who holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from St. John’s University, started his career at JoVE in 2014 as a Science Writer. During his tenure here, he has contributed to a variety of Science Education collections including Developmental Biology, Behavioral Science, Genetics, and Cell Biology, and was promoted to Associate Director of Science Education. He is currently leading the creation of Clinical Skills and soon-to-be-released Lab Animal Care and Usage Guide.
As we are planning to expand production of new products, Dipesh was chosen to fill the brand new role of Director of Production, and we are so excited to watch what he does next!
Justin Cherny Ph.D. Promoted to Director of Operations
Justin Cherny has had an interesting career here at JoVE, working across multiple departments and demonstrating time and time again that he is truly a jack-of-all-trades.
Justin joined JoVE in 2013 after acquiring his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Bioinformatics, from Wesleyan University. He began as a Review Editor in our Editorial Department, but soon took on a new role in our IT department when we discovered that in addition to being well versed in the language of science, he could also code!
Later on, as the manager of JoVE’s Innovation Lab, Justin spearheaded numerous IT projects that increased JoVE’s visibility online and improved work efficiency inside the company. These projects included JoVE Visualize, Lab Index, Editorial Emailer, and JoVE Trials.
This month, Justin was promoted to Director of Operations, a position that couldn’t be more suited to him! In his own words, he is extremely excited to start working on new projects and collaborating with all of JoVE’s departments.

It’s been almost three years since the release of a new section for our journal, and this month, our Chief Product Officer Dr. Aaron Kolski-Andreaco announced the launch of not one, but THREE new Journal sections!
After much anticipation, JoVE Biochemistry, JoVE Genetics, and JoVE Cancer Research were released on Tuesday. In his presentation at our biweekly company “Sharing Social”, Aaron was quick to praise his team and the many players that made such a huge launch possible.
“Thanks to our prolific Editorial Department and expanding videographer network, we have reached high submission numbers never before attained. With this robust influx of content, we have a ripe opportunity to extend the full scope of JoVE to be more comprehensive. Obviously, with three new journal sections we also have more content to up-sell to institutions, and resultant revenues will only fuel JoVE’s future growth and prosperity.”
