Alessandro is a research assistant in Dr. Ronglih liao's laboratory at the cardiovascular institute, Stanford University School of Medicine. Alessandro is originally from Latina, Italy. He moved to the US to pursue undergraduate studies at Concordia College New York after receiving a full-scholarship to join the university tennis team. In 2018, he received a BS in Biology with honors degree. During the summer of 2016, he interned in Dr. Liao’s lab at the Brigham and Women's Hospital focusing on studies in human iPSC cardiomyocytes. Fascinated by scientific research, the following summer he returned to Dr. Liao’s lab, and worked with Kevin Alexander on elucidating the pathogenic mechanisms underlying transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy.

After graduating college in May 2018, Alessandro joined Dr. Liao’s lab at Stanford University full-time to further pursue his scientific interests and explore potential future careers in biomedical research. His current work next to his mentor Dr. Kevin Alexander includes the developing of a transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy animal model in order to elucidate molecular mechanisms of the pathogenesis of the disease. In addition, Alessandro recently received a Translational Research and Applied Medicine pilot grant to investigate potential molecular biomarkers for early diagnosis of light chain amyloidosis.
