Anna Pistocchi, class 1979, got her degree in Biology in 2003 and the PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2006 at the University of Milan. She pursued with a postgraduate fellow at Dibit, San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, in two projects, with Prof. Giulio Cossu as advisor, for the study of skeletal muscular dystrophy.

In the 2012 Dr. Pistocchi started the academic career as Assistant Professor in Applied Biology in the Department of Medical Biotechnology and Translational Medicine at the University of Milan where she became Associate Professor in 2019.

In this position Dr. Pistocchi now coordinates her own laboratory. Her major scientific interest is the study of zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a model system to mimic human disease and to functionally understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathology.
