Boyi Liu is a Professor in Department of Neurobiology and Acupuncture Research, The Third Clinical Medical College, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University and Key Laboratory of Acupuncture and Neurology of Zhejiang Province.

He did his postdoctoral training in Dr. Sven-Eric Jordt's lab in Yale University School of Medicine from 2009-2012. There, he focused on TRP channels and neurosensory biology. He was recruited as an Assistant Professor at Duke University in 2014. He received NIH Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant Award (R21) from NIH to study mechanisms underlying neuroinflammation and peripheral sensory neuron excitability modulation . He then moved back to his home country and joined Zhejiang Chinese Medical University in 2016 and appointed as Distinguished Professor. He is now the leading scientist in the department and receives several grant support from NSFC and Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Funds for Distinguished Young Scholars. His research interest focuses on mechanistic studies of chronic pain and acupuncture analgesia.
