Bryan Anthony Volpe

I am currently a Research Assistant in the Biology Department of Pace University in Pleasantville, New York. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pace University and will be attending medical school in the summer of 2021.

Throughout the course of my undergraduate career, I examined sensory progenitor cell regeneration in transgenic zebrafish via confocal microscopy under the mentorship of Dr. Aaron Steiner. After demonstrating that interneuromast cells of the zebrafish lateral line system maintain a regenerative capacity, I was tasked with investigating protein that may modulate interneuromast cell behavior. Currently, I am exploring the effects that the knockdown of this protein has on interneuromast cell function in the lateral line system.

I am eagerly awaiting my beginnings in medical school. Here, I will bridge my passion for translational research with my strong interest in clinically relevant problem solving to contribute to molecular therapy for human disease. In medical school, I plan to continue to explore disease through the lens of molecular biology while developing my clinical capability as a future physician.
