She received her undergraduate with honors degree in Chemistry from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana.While at Valparaiso University, Carly, under the direction of Dr. Jennifer Holt, researched host-guest complexes of modified β-Cyclodextrins. Since continuing onto Loyola, Carly joined Dr. James Devery's lab developing methodology to elucidate the solution behavior of Lewis acid-carbonyl complexes.
