Prof. Zhu has engaged in management in the field of laboratory animal for almost 40 years, and he is excellent in design, operation and management of animal facility. He has been in charge of the construction and operation management of laboratory animal platform at Peking University, which is the first domestic university accredited by AAALAC international. He specializes in the research of Human Diseases Animal Model and teaching of laboratory animal science, and he also focus on the occupational safety of employee in laboratory animal industry.

Vice chairman, the Laboratory Animal Welfare Ethics Committee of Chinese Association for Laboratory Animal Sciences. Member of the council, Chinese Veterinary Medical Association. Vice chairman, Committee member, Beijing laboratory animal expert committee.

He also has took part in many scientific research project as a main participant, such as: National Natural Science Foundation of China, National High-tech R&D Program of China (863 Program), National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program), National Science and Technology Support Program, National Key Scientific Instrument and Equipment Development Project, and so on. Up to date, he has published over 80 scientific research papers and has been as editor in-chief and associate editor in 8 professional books.
