Nicolò Pajer

Nicolò obtained his BSc in “Chemistry and Sustainable Technologies” at Ca’ Foscari University (Venice, Italy) in July 2017. During his BSc thesis Nicolò worked on the field of biphasic catalysis. Then, he was trained at CIQuS (University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain), from July 2017 to September 2017, over Prof. Massimo Lazzari supervision on the use of SERS and soft-litography (Erasmus+ for traineeship program). Nicolò obtained his MSc in “Chemistry and Sustainable Technologies” at Ca’ Foscari University in October 2019. In his MSc thesis, he developed a novel low-Pd-content heterogeneous catalysts for the selective cis-hydrogenation of asymmetric acetylenes. During the Master degree, Nicolò attended a semester (from September 2018 to January 2019) as visiting student (Erasmus+) at Namur University (Belgium). In July 2019 Nicolò won the selection for a Chemistry PhD position at Ca’ Foscari University/Trieste University and he is currently PhD student under Prof. Claudia Crestini supervision. Nicolò’s actual research focuses deal with (a) lignin characterization and structural elucidation, (b) lignin-based-materials synthesis and characterization, (c) oxidative upgrade of lignin by the use of chemoenzymatic methods (laccases) and (d) structural characterization and isolation of suberin. From September 2021, Nicolò is visiting PhD student at the Department of Forest Biomaterials at North Carolina University (Raleigh - North Carolina - United States of America) under Dr. Marko Hakovirta and Prof. Dimitri S. Argyropoulos supervision.

Nicolò has been referee for “Analytical Methods” (The Royal Society of Chemistry).

From the beginning of his Master degree, Nicolò has been tutor (e.g. students' lab assistant, tutoring classes, ...) for several academic activities at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
