Dong Kun Lee

Dr. Lee is Assistant professor in the Physiology and Convergence Medical Sciences Department, Institute of Health Sciences, Gyeongsang National University School of Medicine in Jinju, Republic of Korea. He obtained his undergraduate, Master and Ph.D. with honors degree from Pusan National University of Republic of Korea.
During the training years, Dr. Lee developed strong back ground and experience studying neurobiology of addiction in general and neural mechanisms associated with addictive behaviors after exposure to psychostimulants in particular. As a post-doctoral fellow (2013 to 2015) in Prof. Young-Hwan Jo's Lab at Division of Endocrinology, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Yeshiva University, NY, USA, Dr. Lee focused on the role of nutrient sensing neurons in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus in regulation of overall energy balance. Those include investigations of GABAergic synaptic transmission and leptin's action on various hypothalamic neurons in obese animals with several cutting-edge techincs, such as optogenetics and electrophysiology. Then, he was recruited as faculty at Gyeongsang National University in Republic of Korea. Now, his research expanded to the disorder of brain functions correlated with behaviors, such as depression and metabolic disease.
