Francesca Peruzzi
Associate Professor

Francesca Peruzzi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and Stanley S Scott Cancer Center at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in New Orleans, Louisiana. She received her undergraduate with summa cum laude and a Ph.D. from the University of Siena, Italy.

Dr. Peruzzi did her postdoctoral training at Temple University and Thomas Jefferson University where she worked on growth factor mediated signaling pathways in cancer cells. She then moved back to Temple University as an Assistant Professor and focused her research on the mechanisms of neuronal damage in the setting of HIV-1 infection. Dr. Peruzzi’s current research at LSUHSC focuses on understanding molecular mechanisms of a dysfunctional innate immunity in HIV-1 infected subjects and on the anticancer properties of microRNAs.
