Graduate Research Assistant

Gabrielle Keb is a 4th year Ph.D. student in the Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics Department at the University of Kentucky. Originally from Michigan, she obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Grand Valley State University in 2016. During her undergraduate, Keb developed an interest for host pathogen interactions through an internship with Zoetis, a global animal health company. After moving to Lexington, Kentucky, Keb continued her interest in microbiology and joined Dr. Ken Fields, whose lab focuses on Chlamydia trachomatis, an obligate intracellular bacterium. In 2019, Keb received an NIH F31 award from NIAID to support her dissertation work which aims to understand infection properties and host targets of invasion-related secreted effector proteins. Outside of the lab, Keb is an avid rock climber, runner, and plant-based food enthusiast.
