Research in my lab is focused on understanding the mechanisms and consequences of lung neutrophil and innate immune cell recruitment during inflammation and repair. To this end, my lab utilizes a combination of cellular (immune-fluorescent), molecular (immune-fluorescent, microPET-CT) and whole animal imaging (microPET-CT and synchrotron X-radiographic imaging) techniques to conduct phenotyping and follow disease progression in murine and pig lung inflammation models. Currently (as of March 2021), my lab is occupied by 2 MSc thesis based graduate students. The students learn induction of lung inflammation models, combined with cellular and molecular analytic techniques including but not limited to the ones mentioned above and most importantly, image analysis of their respective data-sets towards cellular and molecular phenotyping.
