Jakub Černý

Jakub Černý is an early-stage researcher in the Department of Silviculture, Forestry and Game Management Research Institute in Prague, Czech Republic. He received his master degree with honours and PhD in the silviculture domain from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, Mendel University in Brno. He is studying his second PhD in the physiology of tree species at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, Czech Republic.

Dr Černý training focused on leaf area index determination in forest stands, mainly using indirect optical methods. As a PhD student and a post-doctoral fellow (2016-2020) in Radek Pokorny´s lab at the Department of Silviculture, Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic, he participated in developing a new optical device, LaiPen LP 110, for indirect leaf area index estimation.

Dr Černý received the Minister of Agriculture of the Czech Republic award for young researchers in 2020 and 2021. He is a Phenology Commission Member within the International Society of Biometeorology from 2020.
