Jennifer Lynn Gillett-Kaufman

Dr. Jennifer Gillett-Kaufman is an Extension Scientist in the Entomology and Nematology Department at the University of Florida (UF) in Gainesville (10:20:70 R:T:E). She earned her Ph.D. in Plant Pathology at UF, and her B.S. in Ag Education and Communication at UF. She was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco from 1998-2000. Before joining the faculty at the University of Florida in 2005, Dr. Gillett-Kaufman was an Insect Molecular Biologist with the USDA Agricultural Research Service.

Her primary research focus is on pest management in olives. She serves as the Chair of the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences International Programs Advisory Team. She is strongly committed to providing international experiences to undergraduates who may not be able to afford a study abroad experience. She is responsible for teaching or co-teaching three courses: Feast or Famine in Florence (a study abroad course in Italy), Grant Writing, and Insect Vectors of Plant Pathogens. She believes that student professional development is critical to providing career ready graduates and she invests much of her service time fostering student growth. She is a leader in online course development and has helped many faculty improve their online courses.
