Kelsey Caroline Cleland North College of Graduate Health Sciences University of Tennessee Health Science Center Biography Publications Institution JoVE Articles Kelsey Caroline Cleland NorthGraduate Assistant Researcher Mrs. Kelsey North is a PhD candidate at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center currently working in the Department of Pharmacology, Addiction Science, and Toxicology, where she is co-mentored by Dr. Alex Dopico and Dr. Anna Bukiya. She received her bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree from Austin Peay State University, where she studied hyperpolarization-activated cyclic-nucleotide gated channel regulation of gonadotropin-releasing hormone secretion under the advisement of Dr. Gilbert Pitts. Her current research involves the regulation of cerebral circulation and smooth muscle function by calcium and voltage-gated potassium large conductance (BK) channels. In the three years with Drs. Bukiya and Dopico’s group, she published three first-author manuscripts, received three travel awards, presented posters at numerous conferences; all while being an active mentor for her peers as the Pharmacology track representative and director of Community outreach for the Graduate Student Council, and Communications director for the Scie-prenuer competition in Memphis, TN.
