During my graduate and post-graduate training, my research focused on the role of galectins, a family of carbohydrate-binding proteins, in pre-mRNA splicing. Specifically, I investigated how galectin-3 was incorporated onto assembling spliceosome via its interaction with U1 snRNP.

My current research pursuits involve discipline-based education research (DBER). My interests are focused on how undergraduates understand and apply key disciplinary ideas when engaging in authentic scientific practices. I’m also interested in strategies to increase writing assessments in undergraduate STEM courses.
