Luigi Sirleto
Research scientist

Luigi Sirleto received both a degree in Physics (with honors) and a Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Napoli, Italy. In 1995, he joined the Photonics Department of the Research Institute on Electromagnetic Wave of the National Research Council (CNR), in Florence (Italy). In 1998 he joined the Optoelectronic Group of the Naples University Electronic Department. Since March 2001 he has been a researcher at the Institute of Microelectronics and Microsystems of the CNR. In September 2001, joining the Lightwave Devices Group, he spent two months, as a visiting scientist, at MESA+, Institute of Nanotechnology, University of Twente, The Netherlands. From July 2003 until March 2004, joining the Photonics Laboratory, he spent nine months, as a visiting scientist, at the UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) Electrical Engineering Department. Since September 2004 he led the activities of the Nonlinear Optics Laboratory at the CNRIMM unit of Naples. His research interest concerns nonlinear optics and its applications in nanophotonics and biophotonics.
