Mónica García Sevilla is a PhD student in Biomedical Science and Technology at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain. Her main research interests are image-guided surgery and 3D printing for surgical training and assessment.

She received her undergraduate degree in Sound and Image Engineering in 2014 from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and obtained her master’s degree in Computer Vision from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid in 2016. Before starting her PhD, she worked as a research intern in image-guided surgery at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón.

In 2019 she visited Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore for three months, where she worked at the Malone Center for Engineering in Healthcare with Dr Anand Malpani. Her work focused on surgical training and skills assessment.

Her current research is focused in the field of surgical navigation using tracking systems, augmented reality, surface scanning and the use of 3D printing inside the surgical room.
