María Elisa Martínez-Barbosa
Professor and Full Time Researcher

She received her undergraduate in chemical engineer, with honors degree from the University of Sonora, Mexico, with the research topic “Study of the synthesis of cobalt nanoparticles and systems used for their formation”. Later (2001), she obtained a scholarship from the Mexican Government (CONACyT) to complete her master and Ph.D. She received a Master Degree of pharmacotechnics and biopharmacy from the University of Paris-XI at Chatênay-Malabry, France, with the thesis “Degradable Nanoparticles from derivates of poly(malic acid)”. In 2006 she obtained a Ph.D. in pharmacy, also from the University of Paris-XI at Chatênay-Malabry, France, with the thesis “Synthesis of derivates of poly (gamma-benzyl L-glutamate). Preparation and characterization of multifunctional nanoparticles”.

In 2007, she was recruited at the University of Sonora. Her main research topics are biodegradable polymer synthesis and polymer characterizations; polymeric nano-objects and hydrogels synthesis and characterization for drug delivery, drug targeting, and other applications; Synthesis and characterization of metallic nanoparticles; Cell culture; Natural Products, among others.
