He received his undergraduate degree from Ohio State University in Microbiology where he worked on the pathogenic fungus Histoplasma capsulatum.His graduate work is focused on understanding the mechanisms of pathogenesis for human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) in the salivary epithelium, a site of viral persistence and transmission.
