I am interested in understanding how innate immunity helps to heal wounds and fight pathogens. This has been the common theme throughout my research career, beginning as a graduate student studying the immune response to murine cytomegalovirus infection. I now focus on how the cellular acute wound healing response is diverted by comorbid conditions, with the ultimate goal of identifying areas of intervention to improve wound healing outcomes.
