Nimit L. Patel
Associate III-Imaging Specialist

Mr. Nimit Patel graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Biomedical & Instrumentation Engineering from the North Gujarat University, India in 2006 and earned his Master of Science degree in Bioengineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2008. Since 2011, he is working at the Frederick National Laboratory of Cancer Research as a preclinical imaging specialist. Mr. Patel's research has been primarily focused on developing state-of-the-art optical imaging and analysis techniques to evaluate biological systems. Presently, he manages the operations of the optical imaging studies at the Small Animal Imaging Program in which he collaborates with the National Cancer Institute and extramural investigators to evaluate novel therapeutic/imaging agents in appropriate animal models. His 12-years’ experience has included development and enhancements of quantitative methods for evaluating imaging agents: improvement in the quantitative evaluation in the biodistribution of visible fluorescence probes, animal handling techniques, develop quality assurance and quality control methods to assure highly quantitative optical results, and development and characterization of an innovative short wavelength infrared (SWIR) fluorescence in vivo imaging system. He has published several articles in top-tier journals and serving on the reviewer panel for many journals.
