Nitin Sekhar is a Research Associate in the Department of Medicine - Thrombosis Research Division at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology with a Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics in 2010 and a Master of Science in Bioinformatics degree from The University of Edinburgh in 2011. He also obtained a second Master's degree in Infectious Diseases from the University of Western Australia in 2015 with a thesis on Complement Resistance in Moraxella catarrhalis Western Australia Isolates

Throughout his academic endeavors Nitin Sekhar has been constantly involved in many projects involving protein sequencing, homology modeling, exploration and analysis of gene expression data, cellular reprogramming, active site determination for drug discovery, disease awareness and mosquito vector management in suburban neighborhoods, bactericidal assays and correlation studies between phenotypes and corresponding genotypes.

Nitin Sekhar's research interests include understanding the molecular mechanisms of infectious disease causing micro-organisms, their interaction with the human immune system, the complications they cause in cases of auto-immune diseases like Type-1-Diabetes, and the various complexities involved in Thrombosis and Thromboembolic diseases resulting from Sepsis.
