Poongodi Geetha-Loganathan

Poongodi Geetha-Loganathan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, SUNY Oswego, New York. She received her Master Degree in Life Sciences from Bharathidasan University, India. She then moved to Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan to work as a research assistant in 2000-2002. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2006, with a thesis on ‘Regulation and function of Wnt-6 during avian somite and limb development’ at the University of Freiburg, Germany. She then moved to the University of British Columbia to conduct the post-doctoral studies.

Geetha-Loganathan’s scientific interest range from embryonic development to regeneration using planarian flatworms, chicken and turtle embryos. Her work has been awarded prestigious prizes including, Wolfgang Bargmann Prize of the Anatomische Gesellschaft (German Anatomical Society) for best thesis for the year 2006 and the Provost’s Award for Mentoring in Scholarly and Creative Activity, SUNY Oswego, 2019. Also, received MSFHR post-doctoral fellowship research award from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research in 2008 and the NSF MRI grant Acquisition of a Leica M205 FA Stereomicroscope with Fluorescence in 2017.
