Ronak Reshamwala

Dr Ronak Reshamwala is a research fellow with the Clem Jones Centre for Neurobiology and Stem Cell Research at Menzies Health Institute Queensland, Griffith University, Australia. He received his medical degree from Sardar Patel University, India; and a Master in Medical Science and Technology degree from the School of Medical Science and Technology at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He received his PhD from the Griffith University, Australia.
Dr Reshamwala's main research interests include translational research, regenerative neurology, spinal cord injury and pain perception. During the course of his masters degree, Dr Reshamwala was selected as an International Program Associate at the RIKEN Brain Science Institute, Japan to explore the genetic basis of pain perception and nociception at the Genetic Control of Neuronal Architecture Lab. To pursue his interest in regenerative neurology, he then moved to Australia for his PhD under the supervision of A/Prof James St John. His PhD work focused on developing novel approaches or transplantation of 3D cellular constructs in the injured spinal cord to induce structural and functional repairs. This work took place predominantly in the mouse model.
Upon completion of his PhD, Dr Reshamwala was offered a position as a research fellow at Griffith University, where he continues his work on developing better translatable and robust surgical approaches for treating spinal cord injuries.
