Ryan Hansen Tim Taylor Department of Chemical Engineering Kansas State University Biography Publications Institution JoVE Articles Ryan Hansen Ryan Hansen is an Associate Professor in the Tim Taylor Department of Chemical Engineering at Kansas State University. His lab designs functional material interfaces for emerging applications in microbiology, studies bacterial interactions with synthetic materials, and develops new tools for screening and isolating microbes with unique function from environmental microbiomes. His research has broader impacts in sustainable food, energy, and clean water production.Dr. Hansen received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and his Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado. He was an American Heart Association postdoctoral fellow at the Colorado School of Mines, then worked as a research scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He joined Kansas State University in 2015 and received an NSF CAREER award in 2020.
