However, assessing microglia function in vivo is technically challenging. We have developed a simple but robust technique for precisely monitoring and quantifying the phagocytic potential of microglia in a physiological setting.

To examine this further, we developed a novel experimental mouse model of retinal inflammation and evaluated whether inflammation associated with immune complex formation was present in eyes of AMD donors.
