Graduate Student

I am a graduate student studying developmental biology and genetics in the laboratory of Shinya Yamamoto at Baylor College of Medicine. I am interested in studying the mechanisms underlying neurological diseases, and I have been working on understanding specifically if and how genetic variants found in patients with neurological disorders may lead to the disease. In the Yamamoto lab, we utilize Drosophila melanogaster as a model to functionally characterize genetic variants and begin to dissect the underlying mechanisms for these patient disorders.
