Ting Y. Yu

Ting Yue Yu received his undergraduate degree from The University of Birmingham, UK in Physics and Space Research where he was awarded a First class degree with honours. Ting then pursued a Master’s degree and PhD at The University of Birmingham.

Ting developed his mathematical knowledge and analysis skills during his undergraduate studies and later implemented this into the field of biomedicine.

Ting's scientific interests range from optical electrophysiology to image processing. During Ting's training, he developed a focus on cardiovascular sciences. Here, he developed an optical mapping system for the atria to answer questions of atrial fibrillation and sudden cardiac death. Ting also developed automated algorithms for high throughput analysis of medical images.

His work resulted in numerous publications and presentations at international conferences. Ting was awarded the Medical Image Understanding and Analysis prize in 2014, and the Interdisciplinary Inter-Doctoral Training Centre Conference prize in 2015.
