JoVE is celebrating 10 years of visual science! Take a look back on the celebrations and a look forward at the future of the company that’s changing how science is done!
JoVE was founded to advance scientific research and education by increasing productivity, reproducibility, and efficiency of knowledge transfer for scientists, educators, and students worldwide through visual learning solutions. These past ten years we have strived to do just that.
Some of our highlights throughout the years include:
- 2006: JoVE is founded in Cambridge, MA and first 6 articles are published
- 2007: 100th article published
- 2008: JoVE is indexed in PubMed and MEDLINE
- 2009: UC Davis becomes JoVE’s first institutional subscriber (Harvard, MIT, UCLA, and the National Institute of Health rapidly follow suit)
- 2010: JoVE publishes its 500th video article from the laboratory of Dr. Eric Lander (MIT)
- 2011: 1,000th video article is published
- 2013: JoVE launches Science Education
- 2014: JoVE opens European office in London (UK), Australia/Asia office in Melbourne (Australia) and New Dehli, India
- 2016: Number of JoVE video articles published reaches 5,000
- 2017: JoVE celebrates over 1,000 subscribed institutions in over 50 countries
While over 80% of startups fail, JoVE continues to increase profitability year over year and achieve great things! In recognition of these great accomplishments, we wanted to show our clients and people our appreciation.
At this year’s MLA Conference in Seattle, we hosted a special event for our clients to join us while celebrating our success over the past ten years. The event included appetizers, drinks, a photo booth and fun JoVE giveaways.
How our people around the world celebrated JoVE’s 10 years of success
The Cambridge team enjoyed a day off work aboard the Spirit of Boston. The team enjoyed lunch, drinks, and a special thank you speech from our CEO, Moshe Pritsker while touring the Boston Harbor on a beautiful, sunny afternoon.
Our London team attended a beautiful lunch cruise upon the Thames River followed by a night out with drinks and laughter.
Melbourne celebrated JoVE’s 10-year anniversary on the Yarra River, attending the Spirit of Melbourne’s dinner cruise.
The India Team also celebrated their success with their own get together while enjoying a team dinner and toasting to JoVE’s continuing success.
Our CEO spoke to the team at our Cambridge headquarters saying, “these past 10 years have been an amazing journey. Through the years, we have made plenty of mistakes but with those errors came great triumphs. I feel grateful to be surrounded by creative, driven people who care about JoVE and its growth as much as I do. I am eager to begin the next chapter of JoVE”.
