The increase in global carbon dioxide has been the main driver of climate change and global warming. Thus, a thoughtful engineered approach to taking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere is necessary. Researchers have been using traditional modes of capture from point sources. Recently, capturing carbon dioxide from ultra-dilute concentrations such as from air (Direct Air Capture) has gained much attention. In both cases, porous materials are widely used.
This methods collection will highlight the design and synthesis of such carbon capture materials and touch upon recent advances in designing proper analytical systems and reactors that can be used in such applications. This collection also aims to address innovative methods and techniques related to carbon capture and storage. We anticipate in this collection, we can compile recent and past scientific endeavors and approaches in state-of-the-art carbon capture and storage technology.
