Avijit Banik

Affiliation: Emory University

Avijit Banik is a Cognitive Neuroscientist with a specialization in the field of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The key question in his current work is how neuroinflammatory pathways influence the AD pathology and whether targeting one can reduce the associated pathophysiology of the disease. To answer this question, he investigates the prostaglandin pathways mediated inflammation in AD brains and elucidates downstream mechanisms in cultured microglial cells. He is currently a Post-doctoral Fellow at Pharmacology and Chemical Biology Department, Emory University School of Medicine and is well trained with molecular genetics, cellular, biochemical and pharmacological assays, and behavioral biology in transgenic mice.
