Bilal Abbasi

Dr. Bilal Haider Abbasi is Tenured Associate Professor of Biotechnology at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan. Born in 1975, Dr. Abbasi completed his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Chunzhao Liu at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China in 2008. Throughout his research career, Dr. Abbasi focused on Medicinal Plant Biotechnology. Dr. Abbasi has published 100+ research articles in internationally renowned journals with impact factor as principal author. Dr. Abbasi has supervised 10 PhD and 65+ Master research students till to date. Upon recognition of his services to the field of Biotechnology in Pakistan, Dr. Abbasi has been awarded with Pakistan Academy of Sciences Gold Medal in Biotechnology for the year 2016 and Quaid-i-Azam University Best Young Researcher Gold Medal for the year 2014. At present, Dr. Abbasi is working as Le Studium Research Fellow at the Universite de Tours, France under the directorship of Prof. Nathalie Giglioli-Guivarc’h and Dr. Christophe Hano from Université d’Orléans, France. Here he is heading small research group comprised of a post doc fellow and a lab engineer. The contribution of Dr Abbasi to the “Plant Cell Culture” has been recognized across the world. He has thoroughly investigated Artemisia, Piper, Silybum, Linum, Fagonia, Withania, Ocimum species for their biotechnological implications and phytomedicine production. Furthermore, Dr Abbasi was awarded several research grants by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and Pakistan Academy of Sciences.
