Elizabeth D. Kirby

Elizabeth Kirby is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, USA. She received her undergraduate BS degree with distinction from Duke University and her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of California Berkeley. Her PhD research in Dr. Daniela Kaufer's lab focused on the effects of stress on the brain, with particular emphasis on regulation of adult neurogenesis, sexual behavior and social behavior.

In her postdoctoral work in Dr. Tony Wyss-Coray's lab at Stanford University, she studied regulation and regeneration of hippocampal function by neural stem cells. In 2016, she was recruited to Ohio State to join the Psychology faculty. She also holds a courtesy appointment in the Department of Neuroscience and is a member of the Chronic Brain Injury initiative. Her lab focuses on neural stem cell contributions to brain function and healing after injury in adult rodents.
