feet, while Kansas City is about 900 feet above sea level, Denver&#8217;s thinner atmosphere retains less heat. Despite sharing latitude (and therefore solar exposure), higher elevation means cooler average temperatures due to the decreased air pressure and density.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why Mount Kilimanjaro has snow even near the equator<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mount Kilimanjaro rises to nearly 20,000 feet, and at that extreme elevation, temperatures drop dramatically regardless of its tropical location.
