This article describes a method for detecting viral RNA in coronavirus-infected Vero cells using hybridization chain reaction (HCR). The technique involves the use of fluorescently labeled probes to amplify signals for visualization under a fluorescence microscope.
Hybridization Chain Reaction (HCR)-FISH combined with immunofluorescence enables spatially resolved detection of SARS-CoV-2 subgenomic RNA in infected cells, supporting mechanistic studies of host-virus interactions. This approach enhances predictive confidence in early discovery by providing quantitative, single-cell resolution data on viral RNA localization. The method is positioned for portfolio triage and target validation in infectious disease research pipelines.
