如果一个力所做的功仅取决于初始位置和最终位置,而与所经过的路径无关,则该力被称为保守力。

保守力的两个例子是物体的重力和弹簧力。

重量是物体由于重力而受到的力。

如果悬挂在起重机上的物体在重力相反方向上发生垂直位移 dr,则所做的功等于力与垂直位移的点积。

由于重力方向与位移方向相反,所做的功为负值。

由于所做的功与路径无关,仅取决于垂直位移,因此重力是一种保守力。

同样,对于线性弹性弹簧,当物体发生水平位移时,所做的功仅取决于弹簧的初始和最终位置,与路径无关。因此,弹簧施加的力也属于保守力。
