考虑一个轮胎在重力作用下像单摆一样来回摆动。假设该单摆-地球系统为一个孤立系统。
当单摆摆动时,系统的能量在重力势能和动能之间来回转换,而系统的机械能(两者之和)保持不变。
当单摆处于最低位置时,其速度达到最大,此时所有能量均为动能。当单摆处于最高位置时,会瞬间静止,速度为零,此时所有能量均为势能。
在中间位置时,一半能量为动能,另一半为势能。
在任何孤立系统中,机械能守恒定律指出,系统在任意时刻的总机械能保持不变。下标表示能量传递过程中不同的时间点。
