墙体上必须设置一种称为伸缩缝的连续开口,以容纳砌体的膨胀。 

对于新砌筑的混凝土砌块墙体,随着砂浆的干燥,墙体会发生收缩,从而产生拉应力。

如果这些应力超过墙体的抗拉强度,就会出现收缩裂缝。

这些随机裂缝可以被限制在控制缝内,控制缝是一种沿墙体连续设置的、人为制造的薄弱接缝。

在墙体与柱子或洞口相交处,以及墙体方向、高度和厚度发生变化的位置,应设置伸缩缝和控制缝。

砌砖时,墙体中会留出竖向接缝。这些接缝通常填充背衬棒,并用弹性接缝密封剂密封,以防止湿气和空气进入室内。
