罗尔定理指出,如果一个函数在闭区间上连续,在开区间内可导,且在两个端点处的函数值相等,则在端点之间的某一点处其导数为零。

设想一条道路,一辆车辆沿其上坡,到达顶峰,然后下坡。

由于起点和终点高度相同,必然存在一个点,使得上升转变为下降。在该点处,斜率为零,满足罗尔定理。

闭区间上的函数可以呈现各种形状,只要满足罗尔定理的条件,这些形状均可能符合该定理。

某些函数可能在多个点处导数为零,例如在区间内同时存在局部极大值和局部极小值时。

另一方面,行驶在平直轨道上的火车的高度可用一条水平直线来表示。在此情况下,轨道上的每一点都满足罗尔定理,因为该直线在每一点处的导数均为零。
