Photosystem I

Ähnlich wie bei Photosystem II werden auch bei Photosystem I Photonen von Pigmentmolekülen im Lichtsammelkomplex absorbiert, um Energie an sein Reaktionszentrum weiterzuleiten und nach der Oxidation wird ein hochenergetisches Elektron an den primären Elektronenakzeptor weitergeleitet.
 Dieses Mal werden jedoch fehlende Elektronen aus dem Chlorophyll-A-Paar durch Elektronen ersetzt, die vom Photosystem II durch die Elektronentransportkette wandern.
 Vom Trägermolekül Plastochinon zum dualen Protein-Cytochrom-Komplex zu einem anderen Protein Plastocyanin.
 Die Energie, die durch diesen Prozess freigesetzt wird, wird verwendet, um Protonen durch den Cytochromkomplex in den Thylakoidraum zu pumpen, wodurch ein Protonengradient erzeugt wird, der ATP durch Chemiosmose erzeugt.
 Sobald das Elektron dieses Reaktionszentrum passiert, gelangt es in die zweite Elektronentransportkette, beginnend mit dem Proteinkomplex Ferredoxin.
 Von hier aus wird das einzelne Elektron von NADP+ Reduktase zusammen mit einem anderen Elektron aufgenommen und Protonen bilden letztendlich das Energieprodukt NADPH.

<h4>Überblick</h4>
 
 Ähnlich wie das Fotosystem II (PS II) nutzt auch das Fotosystem I (PS I) Photonen. Es transportiert diese durch Chlorophyllmoleküle in ein Reaktionszentrum. Im FS I regenerieren die Photonen die Elektronen, die aus dem PS II in das PS I transportiert wurden. Vom Reaktionszentrum aus wird das hochenergetische Elektron durch eine Elektronentransportkette geleitet und verbindet sich schließlich mit einem zusätzlichen Elektron und einem Proton, um NADP+ zu NADPH zu reduzieren. Ähnlich wie beim PS II, wo Energie zur Erzeugung von ATP aufgenommen wird, nimmt das PS I Energie auf, um NADPH zu erzeugen.
 
 <h4>Fotosystem I</h4>
 
 Die Pigmente des Lichtsammelkomplexes im Fotosystem I absorbieren Photonen und geben die Energie an das Reaktionszentrum (P700) weiter. Nach der Oxidation wird ein hochenergetisches Elektron von dem spezialisierten Chlorophyll a Paar an den primären Elektronenakzeptor weitergegeben. Diesmal werden die fehlenden Elektronen des Chlorophyll a Paares durch Elektronen von dem Fotosystem II ersetzt (statt durch die Spaltung von Wasser wie im FS II). Auf ihrem Weg vom PS II zum PS I durchlaufen die Elektronen die Elektronentransportkette. Sie besteht aus dem Trägermolekül Plastochinon, dem Dualprotein-Cytochrom-Komplex und Plastocyanin.
 
 Sobald das Elektron im Reaktionszentrum vom PS I angeregt wurde, tritt es in eine zweite Elektronentransportkette ein, dem Proteinkomplex Ferredoxin. Das einzelne Elektron verbindet sich dann mit einem anderen Elektron und einem Proton (H+), die alle von der NADP+ Reduktase angenommen werden, um das Produkt NADPH zu bilden. Nun nimmt das PS II Energie auf, um einen Protonengradienten zu erzeugen, der letztlich zur Herstellung von ATP verwendet wird. Die im PS I erzeugte Energie wird zur Herstellung von NADPH verwendet.

Photosystem I helps convert light energy into NADPH during photosynthesis. It works with photosystem II in the thylakoid membrane of the chloroplast, but it uses a different electron supplier and a different electron acceptor.

Electrons excited in photosystem II move to photosystem I through an electron transport chain. That chain includes plastoquinone, the dual-protein cytochrome complex, and plastocyanin. As the electrons travel between the two photosystems, they lose energy and must be re-energized by photosystem I.

To do this, the pigments in the photosystem I antenna complex absorb another photon. The energy is passed to the reaction center called P700. P700 then sends a high-energy electron to NADP+ and forms NADPH.

Photosystem II uses light energy to build a proton gradient and make ATP. Photosystem I captures light energy to reduce NADP+ into NADPH. After ATP and NADPH are made, the cell has the energy it needs to build carbohydrate molecules for long-term storage in the stroma of the chloroplast.

Photosynthesis happens in plants and in some bacteria. It is the process that captures carbon dioxide and solar energy to make glucose. Glucose stores chemical energy as carbohydrates. The overall biochemical equation is 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + light energy → C6H12O6 + 6 O2. Photosynthesis also releases oxygen into the atmosphere and helps maintain Earth’s atmospheric oxygen content. Photosynthetic reactions take place in chloroplasts, which are specialized membrane-enclosed parts of the plant cell.
