Constant Pressure Calorimetry

Für eine chemische Reaktion, die unter konstantem Druck durchgeführt wird, wie den atmosphärischen Druck, wird die Wärme die während des Prozesses ausgetauscht wird, gemessen als die Änderung der Enthalpie Delta H.Die Enthalpieänderung für die Reaktion manifestiert sich als eine Temperaturänderung, die mit einer Technik namens Kalorimetrie gemessen wird. Das Kalorimeter ist gut isoliert und verhindert jeden Wärmefluss zwischen sich selbst und seiner Umgebung.Somit kann der Wärmeaustausch zwischen den Reaktanten und den Produkten die das System bilden und das Kalorimeter welches die Umgebung ausmacht kann genau berechnet werden, durch das Messen der nachfolgenden Temperaturänderungen im Kalorimeter. Wenn die Reaktion exothermisch ist, fließt Wärme aus dem System in die Umgebung, und die Temperatur steigt an. Umgekehrt, wenn die Reaktion endothermisch ist, strömt die Wärme aus der Umgebung in das System, wodurch die Temperatur des Kalorimeters sinkt.Ein einfaches Kaffeebecher-Kalorimeter misst die Änderung in der Enthalpie in einer Lösung auftretenden Reaktion, unter konstanten Druckbedingungen. Das Kalorimeter besteht aus zwei Styroporkaffeebechern, ineinander verschachtelt und ist mit einem Thermometer und einem Rührer ausgestattet. Das Kalorimeter wird mit einem locker sitzenden Korkdeckel verschlossen, dies ist zur Aufrechterhaltung eines konstanten Drucks, der offen zur Atmosphäre ist.Angenommen das, 50, 0 Milliliter von jeweils 1, 0 molarer wässrigen Salzsäure und 1, 0 molarem wässrigem Kaliumhydroxid, innerhalb des Kalorimeters reagieren, um die Temperatur der Lösung um 6, 9 Grad Celsius zu erhöhen. Die von der Lösung absorbierten Wärme q Lösung ist gleich seiner spezifischen Wärme, Cs, 4, 18 Joule/die gleiche wie die des Wassers multipliziert mit seiner Gesamtmasse, m 100, 0 Gramm, und der Temperaturänderung. Die Wärme der Lösung beträgt das 2, 9-fache zehn hoch 3 Joule oder 2, 9 Kilojoule.Die Wärme der Reaktion q Reaktion hat den gleichen Wert, aber mit entgegengesetztem Vorzeichen. Weil der Druck konstant ist, ist die Enthalpieänderung gleich der Reaktionswärme. Um die Enthalpieänderung der Reaktion pro Mol zu finden, wird die Enthalpie durch die Anzahl der Salzsäure-Mole geteilt.Die Mole der Salzsäure werden berechnet durch die Multiplikation des Volumens in Litern 0, 05 Liter mit der Molarität von 1 Molar. Daher ergibt das negativ 2, 9 Kilojoule geteilt durch 0, 050 Mol negativ 58 Kilojoule/mol.

Kalorimetrie ist eine Technik zur Messung der Wärmemenge, die während eines chemischen oder physikalischen Prozess aufgenommen oder abgegeben wird, oder zur Messung der von oder auf eine Substanz übertragenen Wärmemenge. Die Wärme wird innerhalb eines kalibrierten und isolierten Gerätes namens Kalorimeter ausgetauscht. Kalorimetrieexperimente basieren auf der Annahme, dass kein Wärmeaustausch zwischen dem isolierten Kalorimeter und der Außenumgebung stattfindet. Die Isolierung des Kalorimeters verhindert die Wärmeübertragung zwischen dem Kalorimeter und seiner äußeren Umgebung, wodurch die „Umgebung“ effektiv auf die systemfremden Komponenten innerhalb des Kalorimeters (und dem Kalorimeter selbst) beschränkt wird. Dies ermöglicht die genaue Bestimmung der Wärme, die bei chemischen Prozessen entsteht, beispielsweise bei der Ermittlung des Energiegehalts von Lebensmitteln. Die vom Kalorimeter gemessene Temperaturänderung wird verwendet, um die bei dem untersuchten Prozess übertragene Wärmemenge abzuleiten. In einem Kalorimeter ist das System definiert als der Stoff oder die Stoffe, welche die chemische oder physikalische Veränderung erfahren, mit anderen Worten, die stattfindende Reaktion. Die Umgebung umfasst alle anderen Komponenten, einschließlich der Lösung und alle anderen Substanzen im Kalorimeter, die entweder Wärme liefern, an das System abgeben oder Wärme aus dem System aufnehmen. Bevor wir die Kalorimetrie chemischer Reaktionen diskutieren, betrachten wir ein einfacheres Beispiel, das die Kernidee der Kalorimetrie veranschaulicht. Das negative Vorzeichen zeigt lediglich, dass qmetall und qwasser in der Richtung des Wärmeflusses (Gewinn oder Verlust) entgegengesetzt sind, es gibt jedoch noch nicht das Vorzeichen eines der q-Werte an (das dadurch bestimmt wird, ob die betreffende Materie Wärme gewinnt oder verliert). In der beschriebenen Situation ist qmetall ein negativer Wert und qwasser ein positiver Wert, da Wärme vom Metall auf das Wasser übertragen wird. Bei der Verwendung der Kalorimetrie zur Bestimmung der bei einer chemischen Reaktion auftretenden Wärme gelten dieselben Prinzipien. Die vom Kalorimeter absorbierte Wärmemenge ist so gering, dass sie gewöhnlicherweise vernachlässigt werden kann und das Kalorimeter minimiert den Energieaustausch mit der Außenumgebung. Wenn in einem Kalorimeter eine exotherme Reaktion in einer Lösung stattfindet, wird die durch die Reaktion erzeugte Wärme von der Lösung absorbiert, wodurch sich ihre Temperatur erhöht. Bei einer endothermen Reaktion wird die erforderliche Wärme aus der Wärmeenergie der Lösung absorbiert, wodurch deren Temperatur sinkt. Die Temperaturänderung (ΔT) kann dann zusammen mit der spezifischen Wärme (csoln) und Masse der Lösung (msoln) zur Berechnung der in den beiden Fällen beteiligten Wärmemenge (qsoln) verwendet werden. <img alt="Eq3" src="https://www.jove.com/files/core/CDNSource/lessons/798/798_Equations-03.png" style="height: 40px;"> Ein einfaches Kalorimeter – Kaffeetassen-Kalorimeter genannt – besteht aus zwei ineinandergesteckten Styroporbechern, die mit einem locker sitzenden Deckel verschlossen sind. Kaffeetassenkalorimeter dienen zur Messung der Reaktionswärme einer Reaktion, die in einer (meist wässrigen) Lösungen abläuft und keine oder nur eine sehr geringe Volumenänderung mit sich bringt. Coffee cup calorimetry measures heat changes in reactions and physical changes using an insulated calorimeter. The calorimeter is calibrated and designed to limit heat exchange with the outside environment. That makes it possible to measure the heat taken in or released by a substance more accurately, including the energy content of foods.

In calorimetry, the system is the substance or substances undergoing change. The surroundings are everything else inside the calorimeter, including the solution and any other components that can give heat to the system or absorb heat from it. The measured temperature change is then used to calculate the heat transferred in the process under study.

A simple example helps show the idea. If a hot piece of metal is placed in cool water, heat flows from the metal to the water until both reach thermal equilibrium, or the same temperature. In an ideal calorimeter, no heat is gained or lost by the external environment, so the heat lost by the metal equals the heat gained by the water. The two heat values have the same magnitude, but they point in opposite directions of heat flow.

The same rules apply when a chemical reaction happens in solution. For an exothermic reaction, the reaction gives off heat, and the solution absorbs it, so the solution temperature rises. For an endothermic reaction, the reaction absorbs heat from the solution, so the solution temperature falls. The temperature change, along with the solution mass and specific heat, can be used to find the heat involved.

A coffee cup calorimeter is a simple constant-pressure calorimeter made from two nested polystyrene cups with a loose-fitting lid. It is used for reactions in solution, mostly aqueous solutions, when there is little or no volume change. In this setup, the heat of the reaction, q rxn, and the heat of the solution, q soln, add up to zero. That means the heat released or absorbed by the reaction matches the heat gained or lost by the solution. Because the pressure stays constant, the measured heat change is the enthalpy change.
