Alkylhalogenide oder Halogenalkane sind organische Verbindungen, die aus einer Alkylgruppe und einem Halogenatom bestehen, die an einen sp3-hybridisierten Kohlenstoff gebunden sind.
Jedes Kohlenstoffatom wird durch seine Nähe zum Halogenatom definiert. Der direkt an das Halogen gebundene Kohlenstoff wird als "Alpha-Kohlenstoff" bezeichnet; Der Kohlenstoff daneben wird "Beta-Kohlenstoff" genannt und so weiter.
Abhängig von der Anzahl der Alkylgruppen auf dem Alpha-Kohlenstoff werden Alkylhalogenide weiter in primäre, sekundäre und tertiäre Halogenide eingeteilt.
Die Nomenklatur der Alkylhalogenide folgt ähnlichen IUPAC-Regeln wie die der Alkane. Halogene gelten als Substituenten und werden als Fluor-, Chlor-, Brom- und Jod- bezeichnet.
Zählen Sie zunächst die Kohlenstoffe auf der längsten Kette. Hier entspricht fünf Pentan. Zweitens: Suchen und benennen Sie die Substituenten. Hier ist es Brom-, Chlor- und Methyl.
Nummerieren Sie als Nächstes die übergeordnete Kette und weisen Sie den Substituenten einen Lokanten zu, um ihnen die niedrigstmögliche Anzahl zu geben. Zum Schluss setzen Sie die Substituenten alphabetisch zusammen. Diese Verbindung wird als 4-Brom-1-chlor-4-methylpentan bezeichnet.
Enthält die Kette eine Doppelbindung, hat die Doppelbindung Vorrang und erhält die niedrigste Zahl, wodurch die Verbindung 3-Fluor-1-buten entsteht.
Wenn ein Molekül zyklisch, chiral und mit mehreren Substituenten ist, wird den Substituenten ebenfalls der niedrigstmögliche Lokant zugewiesen, und die Gruppen sind alphabetisch geordnet. Die Stereozentren sind am Anfang des Namens angegeben, was (1R,2 R)-3-butyl-1,2-dichlor-5-ethylcyclohexan ergibt.
Alkylhalogenide werden aufgrund ihrer Reaktivität als Bausteine in Synthesen verwendet. In Gruppe 17 nehmen die Atomgröße und die Bindungslänge des Halogens zu, während die Elektronegativität und die Basizität abnehmen.
Die höhere Elektronegativität von Halogenen führt dazu, dass dem benachbarten Kohlenstoff die Elektronendichte entzogen wird, wodurch der Alpha-Kohlenstoff elektrophil und damit reaktiver wird.
Die Reaktivität des Alkylhalogenids wird zusätzlich durch die Stabilität der konjugierten Base des Halogens beeinflusst. Jodid, Bromid und Chlorid sind stabile, aber schwache konjugierte Basen ihrer starken Hydrohalogensäuren. Aufgrund ihrer Stabilität können sie leichter durch eine stärkere Basis ersetzt werden, was sie zu guten Abgangsgruppen macht.

Strukturelle Eigenschaften

Alkylhalogenide sind Halogen-substituierte Alkane, bei denen ein oder mehrere Wassersubstanzatome eines Alkans durch ein Halogenatom wie Fluor, Chlor, Brom oder Jod ersetzt sind. Das Kohlensubstanzatom in einem Alkylhalogenid ist an das Halogenatom gebunden, das sp3-hybridisiert ist und eine tetraedrische Form aufweist.

Im Gegensatz zu Alkylhalogeniden werden Verbindungen, in denen ein Halogenatom an ein sp2-hybridisiertes Kohlensubstanzatom einer Kohlensubstanz-Kohlensubstanz-Doppelbindung (C=C) gebunden ist, Vinylhalogenide genannt. Arylhalogenide hingegen sind Verbindungen, in denen ein Halogenatom an ein sp2-hybridisiertes Kohlensubstanzatom eines aromatischen Rings gebunden ist.

Abhängig vom Grad der Substitution am Kohlensubstanzatom, das das Halogen enthält, werden Alkylhalogenide außerdem in primäre, sekundäre und tertiäre Alkylhalogenide eingeteilt. Der an ein Halogenatom gebundene Kohlensubstanz wird α-Kohlensubstanz genannt. Das mit dem α-Kohlensubstanz verbundene Kohlensubstanzatom wird β-Kohlensubstanz genannt. Die benachbarten Kohlensubstanzatome werden anschließend mit griechischen Buchstaben (γ, δ usw.) bezeichnet.

Nomenklatur

Die Benennung von Alkylhalogeniden folgt den allgemeinen IUPAC-Regeln der organischen Chemie:

Reaktivität und Anwendungen

Alkylhalogenide sind vielseitige Verbindungen, die als Lösungsmittel, Pestizide und Zwischenprodukte bei der Herstellung von Farbsubstanzen, Medikamenten und synthetischen Polymeren dienen. Die chemische Reaktivität von Alkylhalogeniden unterscheidet sich je nach Strukturklassifizierung. Alkylhalogenide werden je nach Substitutionsgrad an einem kohlensubstanzhaltigen Halogen in primäre, sekundäre und tertiäre Alkylhalogenide eingeteilt.

Darüber hinaus spielt die Elektronegativität des Halogenatoms eine wichtige Rolle für die Reaktivität des Alkylhalogenids. Außer Jod haben andere Halogene eine deutlich größere Elektronegativität als Kohlensubstanz. Aufgrund der Elektronegativitätsunterschiede zwischen Kohlensubstanz- und Halogenatomen ist die kovalente Bindung zwischen den Atomen polarisiert; Somit trägt der Kohlensubstanz eine teilweise positive Ladung und das Halogenatom eine teilweise negative Ladung. Folglich ist der an das Halogen gebundene Kohlensubstanz ein Elektrophil.

In einem Periodensystem nimmt die Elektronegativität in der Halogenfamilie ab; umgekehrt nimmt die Größe der Halogenatome zu. Somit nimmt die Länge der Kohlensubstanz-Halogen-Bindung zu, während Bindungsstärke und Polarität von Fluor zu Iod abnehmen, was das Aufbrechen der Bindung erleichtert.

Abgesehen von diesen Faktoren beeinflusst auch die relative Stabilität der entsprechenden konjugierten Basen oder Halogenidanionen die chemische Natur des Alkylhalogenids. Die Stabilität von Halogenidanionen kann anhand des relativen Säuregehalts der Halogenwassersubstanzenäuren gemessen werden. Die stärkste Halogenwassersubstanzenäure, Jodwassersubstanz, hat einen pKa von -11. Das heißt, es dissoziiert vollständig in die stabilste konjugierte Base, das Iodidion und ein Proton. Daher ist Jod eine ausgezeichnete Abgangsgruppe. Mit Ausnahme von Flusssäure mit einem pKa-Wert von 3,2 haben andere Halogenwassersubstanzenäuren pKa-Werte von weniger als 0, was sie zu starken Säuren mit schwachen und stabilisierten konjugierten Basen macht, die ausgezeichnete Abgangsgruppen sind.

Alkyl halides are halogen-substituted alkanes. In these compounds, one or more hydrogen atoms in an alkane is replaced by a halogen atom such as fluorine, chlorine, bromine, or iodine. The carbon bonded to the halogen is sp3-hybridized and has a tetrahedral shape.

Not every carbon-halogen compound is an alkyl halide. If the halogen is attached to an sp2-hybridized carbon in a carbon-carbon double bond, the compound is a vinyl halide. If the halogen is attached to an sp2-hybridized carbon in an aromatic ring, the compound is an aryl halide. Alkyl halides are also grouped as primary, secondary, or tertiary based on how substituted the carbon bearing the halogen is.

The carbon attached to the halogen is called the alpha-carbon. The carbon next to it is the beta-carbon. The nearby carbons are then labeled with Greek letters such as gamma and delta. Alkyl halides are named using standard IUPAC rules. First, identify the longest carbon chain and name it. Then name the substituents, assign locants, and list the substituents in alphabetical order.

Alkyl halides are useful as solvents, pesticides, and starting materials for dyes, drugs, and synthetic polymers. Their reactivity depends on their structure and on the halogen atom. Because halogens are usually more electronegative than carbon, the carbon-halogen bond is polarized. This gives the carbon a partial positive charge, so it acts as an electrophile.

Halogen trends also matter. Moving down the halogen family, electronegativity decreases and atomic size increases. As a result, the carbon-halogen bond gets longer, weaker, and less polar from fluorine to iodine, so it is easier to break. The stability of the matching halide anion also affects reactivity. Hydroiodic acid is the strongest hydrohalic acid, with a pKa of -11, so iodide is a very stable conjugate base and an excellent leaving group. With the exception of hydrofluoric acid, which has a pKa of 3.2, the other hydrohalic acids have pKa values below 0 and form weak, stabilized conjugate bases that leave easily.
