Gravitational Potential Energy

Die potentielle Gravitationsenergie ist die Energie, die aufgrund seiner Position im Gravitationsfeld in einem Objekt gespeichert ist.
Mathematisch ist es definiert als das Produkt aus dem Gewicht und der Höhe eines Objekts über dem Boden.
Somit ist die potentielle Gravitationsenergie einer Kugel mit der Masse m, die in einer Höhe y über dem Boden hängt, mgy.
Wenn beispielsweise beim Eishockey ein Puck mit der Masse m nach dem Schuss eine parabolische Bahn nimmt, dann ist die potentielle Gravitationsenergie an Punkt B mgy, wobei y die Höhe des Pucks vom Boden ist.
Wenn sich der Puck von Punkt A nach B bewegt, ist die Änderung der potentiellen Gravitationsenergie positiv, wenn die potentielle Gravitationsenergie zunimmt, und gleich der negativen Energie der geleisteten Arbeit.
Wenn sich der Puck von Punkt B nach C bewegt, nimmt die potentielle Gravitationsenergie ab, und die von der Gravitationskraft geleistete Arbeit ist positiv.
Wenn sich also ein Körper nach oben bewegt, nimmt die potentielle Gravitationsenergie zu und ab, wenn sich der Körper nach unten bewegt.

Potentielle Energie ist nicht nur eine Eigenschaft jedes Objekts, sondern auch eine Eigenschaft der Wechselwirkungen zwischen Objekten in einem gewählten System. Für jede Art der Wechselwirkung in einem System gibt es eine entsprechende Art von potentieller Energie. Die Gesamtpotentielle Energie des Systems ist die Summe der potentiellen Energien aller Objekte. Potentielle Energie kann in zwei Hauptkategorien eingeteilt werden: Gravitationale potentielle Energie und elastische potentielle Energie. Die potentielle Energie, die mit dem Gewicht eines Körpers und seiner Höhe über dem Boden verbunden ist, wird als gravitationale potentielle Energie bezeichnet.

Die gravitative Kraft auf jedes Teilchen (oder Körper) ist einfach sein Gewicht (mg) in der Nähe der Erdoberfläche, die in Richtung des Erdmittelpunkts wirkt. Gemäß dem dritten Gesetz von Newton übt jedes Teilchen eine Kraft gleicher Größe und entgegengesetzter Richtung auf die Erde aus. Darüber hinaus sagt uns das zweite Gesetz von Newton, dass die Größe der Beschleunigung, die durch jede dieser Kräfte auf die Erde ausgeübt wird, durch (mg) geteilt durch die Masse der Erde bestimmt wird. Da das Verhältnis der Masse eines gewöhnlichen Objekts zur Masse der Erde verschwindend klein ist, kann die Bewegung der Erde vollständig vernachlässigt werden. Gravitational potential energy depends on an object’s weight and its height above the ground. It is one part of the total potential energy of a system, which comes from the interactions between objects. In a system, the total potential energy is the sum of the potential energies for all the objects.

Potential energy is usually grouped into two main categories: gravitational potential energy and elastic potential energy. Gravitational potential energy describes the energy tied to a body’s weight and position near Earth. Elastic potential energy is the other major category, and it comes from a different kind of interaction.

Near Earth’s surface, the gravitational force on a body is its weight, or mg, and it points toward the center of Earth. By Newton’s third law, the body pulls on Earth with an equal force in the opposite direction. Newton’s second law shows that Earth’s acceleration from this force is mg divided by Earth’s mass, but Earth is so massive compared with ordinary objects that its motion can be neglected.

Because of this, we treat the situation as a single-particle system in a uniform gravitational field. The work done by Earth’s gravitational force near the surface depends on the object’s mass, the acceleration due to gravity, and the change in height. That work is the negative of the change in gravitational potential energy.
