Blinding

Verblindung ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil randomisierter Kontrollstudien, um Verzerrungen zu reduzieren und die Validität der Ergebnisse zu erhöhen. Es verbirgt Behandlungsinformationen für Patienten, Ärzte, Datenanalysten und anderes Personal, das an der Studie beteiligt ist.
Randomisierte Kontrollstudien verwenden ein Placebo, um eine Verblindung zu erreichen. Der Placebo-Effekt ist ein psychologisches Phänomen, bei dem ein unbehandelter Patient fälschlicherweise glaubt, dass er die tatsächliche Behandlung erhalten hat, und über verbesserte Symptome berichtet. Um diese Verzerrung zu reduzieren, wird also ein Placebo oder eine Scheinbehandlung zusammen mit der Testbehandlung verabreicht.
In klinischen Studien werden häufig einfache, doppelte und dreifache Verblindung verwendet.
Bei einfach-blinden Techniken wissen die Patienten nicht, ob sie ein Placebo oder die eigentliche Behandlung erhalten haben.
Bei der Doppelblindforschung werden die Behandlungsinformationen sowohl vor dem Patienten als auch vor dem Arzt verborgen. Infolgedessen wird es keine falschen Informationen von Patienten oder Ärzten geben, die die Behandlung befürworten und voreingenommene Beobachtungen melden könnten.

Verblindung ist eine häufig verwendete Methode, bei der den Teilnehmern nicht mitgeteilt wird, welche Behandlung einem Subjekt verabreicht wird. Verblindung ist ein entscheidender Teil einer randomisierten kontrollierten Studie oder RCT. Sie reduziert die Verzerrung, die die Ergebnisse beeinflusst. In einer RCT wird Verblindung in Form eines Placebos verwendet. Ein Placeboeffekt tritt auf, wenn unbehandelte Subjekte fälschlicherweise glauben, dass sie die Behandlung erhalten haben und über verbesserte Symptome berichten. Ein Placebo oder eine Scheinbehandlung wird den Subjekten verabreicht, um die durch einen solchen Effekt verursachte Verzerrung zu negieren. Wenn die Teilnahme an einer Studie eine körperliche Reaktion eines Teilnehmers hervorruft, ist es schwierig, die Effekte der erklärenden Variablen zu isolieren. Um der Kraft der Suggestion entgegenzuwirken, legen Forscher eine Behandlungsgruppe als Kontrollgruppe fest. Diese Gruppe erhält eine Placebobehandlung – eine Behandlung, die Antwortvariable nicht beeinflussen kann. Placebos and blinding are key tools in randomized control trials, or RCTs. They help researchers reduce bias, which can affect study results. In a blinded study, participants do not know which treatment they are receiving.

A placebo is a dummy treatment that does not contain the active treatment. Researchers use a placebo in the control group to compare against the treatment group. This helps balance the effects of being in an experiment with the effects of the active treatment itself. A placebo effect can happen when untreated subjects believe they received the treatment and report improved symptoms.

Blinding keeps the power of suggestion from changing the results. If a person knows they received a pill with no actual medication, that suggestion effect is no longer hidden. In a double-blind experiment, both the subjects and the researchers who work with them are blinded. Blinding can also include clinicians, data collectors, outcome adjudicators, and data analysts in clinical trials.
