Stellen Sie sich eine Klappe vor, die zwei Paaren in derselben Ebene ausgesetzt ist, die die gleichen Momente haben.
Wenn die Größe, die Richtung und der Rotationssinn ihrer Momente gleich sind, sind die Paare gleichwertig.
Bezeichnen Sie zunächst die Schnittpunkte der Handlungslinien der beiden Paare.
Verschieben Sie dann die beiden Kräfte des ersten Paares zu den Schnittpunkten des zweiten Paares, und lösen Sie sie in Komponenten auf.
Ein Komponentenpaar hat die gleiche Größe, Wirkungslinie und den gleichen entgegengesetzten Sinn und kann aufgehoben werden.
Das erste Paar reduziert sich also auf ein neues Paar, das durch die Kräfte S und -S gebildet wird.
Ihr Moment ist gleich dem Moment der Kraft S um einen Punkt, der auf der Wirkungslinie von -S liegt.
Unter Verwendung des Satzes von Varignon entspricht der Moment des ersten Paares der Summe der Momente seiner Komponenten, was wiederum dem Moment des neuen Paares entspricht.
Die neuen Kräfte sind also gleich den Kräften des zweiten Paares, was bedeutet, dass die beiden Paare gleichwertig sind.

Die Momente beider Paare haben eine Größe von 12 N·m, und wirken aus der Ebene der Seite heraus. Beim zweiten Paar ist eine größere Kraft erforderlich, um den gleichen Drehungseffekt zu erzielen, da der Abstand zwischen den Kräften kleiner ist. In vielen realen Szenarien sind mechanische Systemen gleichzeitig mehreren Paaren ausgesetzt. Indem äquivalente Paare identifiziert werden, können Ingenieure die Komplexität des Systems verringern und es effizienter analysieren. Equivalent couples in mechanical systems describe pairs of forces that create the same rotational effect on a rigid body. Two couples are equivalent when they have the same moment magnitude and act in the same direction. They then cause the same angular displacement or angular acceleration in the body.

A couple is made of equal and opposite forces separated by a perpendicular distance. The moment of the couple depends on both the force size and the spacing between the forces. For example, one couple can use 30 N forces spaced 0.4 m apart, while another can use 40 N forces spaced 0.3 m apart. Each pair produces a moment of 12 N·m, and both act out of the plane of the page.

The smaller spacing in the second couple means a larger force is needed to get the same turning effect. This idea helps engineers compare and simplify systems with more than one couple acting at the same time. By replacing multiple couples with an equivalent one, they can analyze the system more efficiently.
