Die Angabe von Spannung und Strom in sinusförmiger Form und die Anwendung der trigonometrischen Identität ergibt den Ausdruck für momentane Leistung mit zwei Termen.
Der erste Term ist eine Konstante, die von der Phasendifferenz zwischen Spannung und Strom abhängt, während der zweite Term eine sinusförmige Funktion mit der doppelten Frequenz der Spannung oder des Stroms ist.
Bei Schaltungen mit gemischtem Widerstand und Reaktanz oszilliert die Momentanleistung zwischen positiven und negativen Werten.
In einer rein ohmschen Schaltung sind Spannung und Strom phasengleich, was zu einer gleichbleibend positiven momentanen Verlustleistung führt.
Bei rein induktiven und kapazitiven Schaltungen führt die Phasenverschiebung zwischen Spannung und Strom dazu, dass die Momentanleistung zwischen positiven und negativen Werten schwankt.
Induktivitäten und Kondensatoren speichern und geben zyklisch Energie ab, wenn sich der Strom durch die Induktivität oder die Spannung am Kondensator ändert.
Während des Energiefreisetzungszyklus fungieren die reaktiven Elemente als Energiequelle, die Energie an den Kreislauf zurückgibt, was zu einer negativen Momentanleistung führt.

Die momentane Leistung ist in elektrischen Schaltkreisen wichtig, vor allem bei sinusförmigen Eingangssignalen. Die momentane Leistung, bezeichnet als p(t), ergibt sich aus der Multiplikation der momentanen Spannung (v(t)) über einem Element und des momentanen Stroms (i(t)), der durch dieses fließt. In Schaltkreisen mit Widerstands- und Reaktanzelementen ist die momentane Leistung dynamisch und oszilliert zwischen positiven und negativen Werten. Bei rein resistiven Schaltkreisen, bei denen Spannung und Strom perfekt in Phase sind, wird die Momentanleistung konstant positiv abgeführt.

Umgekehrt führt in Schaltkreisen, die von induktiven und kapazitiven Komponenten dominiert werden, die Phasenverschiebung zwischen Spannung und Strom zu intermittierenden Schwankungen der Momentanleistung zwischen positiven und negativen Werten. Dieses Phänomen kann auf die zyklische Speicherung und Freisetzung von Energie durch Induktoren und Kondensatoren zurückgeführt werden, wenn Strom durch die ersteren fließt und Spannung über den letzteren auftritt. Während der Energiefreisetzungsphase fungieren diese reaktiven Elemente als Stromquellen und liefern effektiv Energie zurück in den Schaltkreis, was zur Manifestation einer negativen Momentanleistung führt. Dieses komplizierte Zusammenspiel von Spannung, Strom und Leistungsdynamik unterstreicht die grundlegenden Prinzipien, die elektrische Schaltkreise steuern. Instantaneous power in an electrical circuit comes from the voltage across an element and the current through it. It is written as p(t) and follows the passive sign convention. For sinusoidal input, this product helps show how power changes at each moment.

When instantaneous power is expanded, it has two parts. One part is constant and depends on the phase difference between voltage and current. The other part is a sinusoidal term that varies at twice the frequency of the voltage or current.

In a purely resistive circuit, voltage and current are in phase. In that case, instantaneous power stays positive and is always dissipated. In circuits with resistance and reactance, the power can swing between positive and negative values.

This change happens because inductors and capacitors store and release energy over time. As current passes through an inductor, or as voltage appears across a capacitor, these elements can give energy back to the circuit during release. That is why negative instantaneous power can appear when reactive elements act like power sources. Understanding these voltage, current, and power relationships is important for efficient energy use and electrical system design.
