Eine Produktionsanlage mit mehreren schweren Maschinen benötigt einen erheblichen Strom, der durch ein symmetrisches Drehstromsystem bereitgestellt wird.
Um die momentane Leistung zu bestimmen, die von der Last der Anlage aufgenommen wird, wird die Analyse auf einer Y-verbundenen Zeitbereichsschaltung durchgeführt.
Die Phasenspannungen haben eine Phasendifferenz von 120 Grad und die Quadratwurzel aus zwei wird verwendet, um Spitzenspannungen in Effektivwerte umzuwandeln, um eine genaue Leistungsanalyse zu ermöglichen.
Wenn eine Maschine in Betrieb ist, zieht sie Strom aus dem Netzteil, was zu einer Phasenverzögerung zwischen den Phasenströmen und den entsprechenden Phasenspannungen führt.
Die gesamte Momentanleistung, die von der Last der Maschine aufgenommen wird, wird berechnet, indem die Momentanleistung in jeder der drei Phasen addiert wird.
Die erhaltene momentane Gesamtleistung bleibt nahezu konstant und ändert sich nicht mit der Zeit. Dies ermöglicht die Berechnung von Wirk-, Blind- und Scheinleistung pro Phase.
Die gesamte Wirkleistung ist die Summe der Wirkleistungen in drei Phasen. In ähnlicher Weise wird die gesamte Blind- und Scheinleistung berechnet.
Diese Ergebnisse gelten sowohl für Y- als auch für Delta-verbundene Lasten.

Dreiphasensysteme haben zwei Konfigurationen: Stern und Dreieck. Eine Sternkonfiguration kann aus drei oder vier Drähten bestehen; in einer Dreieckkonfiguration sind die Komponenten in einer geschlossenen Schleife verbunden. Die Momentanleistung bezieht sich auf den Leistungswert zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt und ist in einem ausgeglichenen Dreiphasensystem konstant. Dies liegt daran, dass die Summe der Momentanleistungen in den drei Phasen trotz einzelner Schwankungen aufgrund der Symmetrie und der Phasenbeziehung im Laufe der Zeit konstant bleibt. Die gesamte Momentanleistung in einem ausgeglichenen Dreiphasensystem ist konstant und schwankt im Laufe der Zeit nicht.

Wirk-, Blind- und komplexe Leistung:

Die Durchschnittsleistung pro Phase beträgt ein Drittel der gesamten Durchschnittsleistung in einem ausgeglichenen Dreiphasensystem. Ebenso beträgt die Blindleistung pro Phase ein Drittel der gesamten Blindleistung im System. Die komplexe Leistung, die sowohl Wirk- als auch Blindleistung pro Phase kombiniert, beträgt ebenfalls ein Drittel der gesamten komplexen Leistung.

Äquivalenz bei Leistungsberechnungen:

Die Dreieck- und Sternkonfigurationen haben Spannungen und Ströme in allen Phasen und Leitungen. In diesen Konfigurationen sind die Lasten an jede Phase am Lastende angeschlossen. Die von der Last verbrauchte Leistung und die Äquivalenz zwischen Stern- und Dreieckkonfigurationen erstreckt sich auf Leistungsberechnungen. Ob in einem Stern- oder einem Dreiecksystem, die Gesamtleistung ist die Summe der Leistung in jeder der drei Phasen. Dies kann anhand der Beziehungen zwischen Leitungs- und Phasenspannungen und -strömen berechnet werden. Für ein Sternsystem und ein Dreiecksystem:

Power in a Three-Phase Circuit

Balanced three-phase power calculation depends on the wye and delta connections used in the circuit. A wye, or star, configuration can use three wires or four wires. A delta configuration connects the components in a closed loop. These connection types change how voltages and currents are arranged, but both are used in three-phase systems.

In a balanced three-phase system, instantaneous power is the power at one exact moment. Even though the power in each phase changes over time, the total instantaneous power stays constant. The three phase powers add together in a steady way because the system is symmetric and the phases are shifted from one another.

The same one-third relationship applies to average power, reactive power, and complex power. The average power in each phase is one-third of the total average power. The reactive power per phase is also one-third of the total reactive power. Complex power, which combines active and reactive power for each phase, is likewise one-third of the total complex power.

These power rules apply to both wye-connected and delta-connected loads. In both configurations, the load is connected to each phase at the load end. The total power is the sum of the power in the three phases. It can be found by using the known relationships between line voltage, phase voltage, line current, and phase current in either a wye or delta system.
