Die krummlinige Bewegung eines Teilchens kann mit Hilfe des Polarkoordinatensystems beschrieben werden.
Die radiale Koordinate, die als "r" bezeichnet wird, erstreckt sich vom festen Ursprung nach außen bis zum Teilchen. Die Winkelkoordinate 'θ (Theta)', gemessen im Bogenmaß, ist der Winkel gegen den Uhrzeigersinn zwischen einer festen Referenzlinie und der radialen Linie, die den Ursprung mit dem Punkt verbindet.
Die Position des Teilchens kann mit Hilfe eines Einheitsvektors entlang der radialen Richtung ausgedrückt werden. Die Unterscheidung der Position des Objekts mit der Zeit ergibt die Geschwindigkeit.
Hier ist der erste Term die lineare Geschwindigkeit entlang der radialen Richtung und der zweite Term die Transversalgeschwindigkeitskomponente des Objekts. Diese beiden Komponenten der Geschwindigkeit stehen immer senkrecht zueinander.
Die Zeitableitung des Geschwindigkeitsausdrucks ergibt die Beschleunigung. Die Änderungsrate des Vektors der Winkeleinheit entspricht dem negativen Produkt der Winkelgeschwindigkeit mit dem Vektor der radialen Einheit.
Die zweite Ableitung der Winkelkoordinate ist dabei die Winkelbeschleunigung des Objekts. Das Ersetzen der Terme ergibt den Ausdruck für die Beschleunigung, bei der die Komponenten senkrecht zueinander stehen.

In Polarkoordinaten folgt die Bewegung eines Teilchens einer krummlinigen Bahn. Die als „r“ symbolisierte Radialkoordinate erstreckt sich von einem festen Ursprung nach außen zum Partikel, während die Winkelkoordinate „θ“, gemessen im Bogenmaß, den Winkel entgegen dem Uhrzeigersinn zwischen einer festen Referenzlinie und der Radiallinie darstellt, die den Ursprung mit dem verbindet Partikel.

Die Position des Partikels wird mithilfe eines Einheitsvektors entlang der radialen Richtung beschrieben. Die Ableitung der Position des Teilchens in Bezug auf die Zeit liefert seine Geschwindigkeit. Diese Geschwindigkeit besteht aus zwei Komponenten: Die erste ist die lineare Geschwindigkeit entlang der radialen Richtung und die zweite ist die Tangentialgeschwindigkeit senkrecht zur radialen Richtung.

Die zeitliche Ableitung der Geschwindigkeit ergibt die Beschleunigung. Die Änderungsrate des Winkeleinheitsvektors ist das negative Produkt der Winkelgeschwindigkeit und des radialen Einheitsvektors. Die zweite Ableitung der Winkelkoordinate repräsentiert die Winkelbeschleunigung des Teilchens. Analog zur Geschwindigkeit stehen beide Komponenten der Beschleunigung senkrecht zueinander. Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass das Polarkoordinatensystem die Feinheiten der krummlinigen Bewegung auf elegante Weise erfasst und das Zusammenspiel zwischen radialer und tangentialer Dynamik enthüllt.

Polar coordinates describe curvilinear motion using a radial distance and an angle. The radial coordinate, r, extends from a fixed origin to the particle. The angular coordinate, θ, is measured in radians. It gives the counterclockwise angle between a fixed reference line and the radial line to the particle.

The particle’s position is written with a unit vector in the radial direction. Taking the time derivative of that position gives the velocity. That velocity has two parts. One is radial, or linear motion along the radial direction. The other is tangential motion, which is perpendicular to the radial direction.

Taking the time derivative of velocity gives the acceleration. The rate of change of the angular unit vector equals the negative product of the angular velocity and the radial unit vector. The second derivative of the angular coordinate gives the particle’s angular acceleration. Like velocity, acceleration in polar form has two perpendicular components. This makes polar coordinates a clear way to describe the radial and tangential parts of curvilinear motion.
