Die resultierende Normalspannung stellt eine durchschnittliche Spannung über den Querschnitt und nicht an einem bestimmten Punkt dar.
Gemäß den Gleichgewichtsbedingungen entsprechen die Schnittgrößen der aufgewendeten Kraft, was bedeutet, dass die Spannungsverteilung gleichmäßig ist, außer in der Nähe des Anwendungspunktes.
Diese gleichmäßige Verteilung ist jedoch nur möglich, wenn die Wirkungslinie der Lasten durch den Schwerpunkt des Abschnitts verläuft, was als zentrische Belastung bezeichnet wird.
Wenn die axiale Belastung exzentrisch aufgebracht wird, kann die Verteilung der Kräfte und Spannungen aufgrund des zusätzlich erzeugten Moments nicht gleichmäßig oder symmetrisch sein.
Die tatsächliche Spannungsverteilung in einem axial belasteten Bauteil ist also statisch unbestimmt und hängt von der spezifischen Art der Lastaufbringung ab.

Normalspannung ist eine Spannungsart, die auftritt, wenn Kräfte senkrecht oder normal zur Querschnittsfläche eines Materials wirken. Diese Spannung entsteht häufig in Strukturen, wenn sie einer axialen Belastung ausgesetzt sind, also der Krafteinwirkung entlang der Achse eines Objekts. Ein praktisches Beispiel hierfür sind Brückenträger.

Wenn eine Stange einer axialen Belastung ausgesetzt ist, sind die inneren Kräfte und die entsprechende Spannung senkrecht zur Querschnittsebene, daher wird dies als Normalspannung bezeichnet. Es ist wichtig zu beachten, dass die Spannung den durchschnittlichen Spannungswert über den Querschnitt darstellt, nicht an einem bestimmten Punkt. Die durchschnittliche Spannung wird berechnet, indem die Größe der über den Querschnitt verteilten resultierenden Schnittgrößen durch die Querschnittsfläche dividiert wird.

Allerdings kann die Spannung an einem bestimmten Punkt von der durchschnittlichen Spannung abweichen, da sie über den Abschnitt hinweg variiert. Insbesondere bei schlanken Stäben unter axialer Belastung kann die Abweichung in der Nähe der Lastangriffspunkte erheblich sein.

Gleichgewichtsbedingungen deuten auf eine gleichmäßige Spannungsverteilung in axial belasteten Bauteilen hin, außer in der Nähe von Lastangriffspunkten, vorausgesetzt, es wird eine zentrische Belastung angenommen. Allerdings erzeugt eine exzentrische Belastung aufgrund zusätzlicher Momente eine ungleichmäßige Spannung, was auf eine statisch unbestimmte Spannungsverteilung hinweist.

Normal Stress

Normal stress acts perpendicular to a material’s cross-sectional area. It appears when a force is applied along the axis of an object, which is called axial loading. Bridge truss members are a practical example of this kind of loading.

When a rod carries axial load, internal forces develop across the section. Because these forces act normal to the plane of the section, the stress is called normal stress. Stress here means the average stress over the whole cross-section, not the value at one exact point.

The average stress is found by dividing the resultant internal force by the cross-sectional area. The stress at a specific point can be different from that average, since it may vary across the section. In slender rods under axial load, that variation can be large near the points where the load is applied.

For a centric load, equilibrium suggests a uniform stress distribution in an axially loaded member, except near the load application points. Eccentric loading changes that pattern. It creates non-uniform stress because extra moments act on the member, so the stress distribution becomes statically indeterminate.
